PCRC North-West Zone Urges Youth, Public To Shun Planned Protests

Date:

The North-West Zone of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has made an earnest appeal to Nigerian youth and the general public to refrain from participating in the proposed nationwide protests slated for August 1. This appeal was articulated in a communique issued on Monday in Kaduna by Sadiq Isa, Assistant National Secretary, on behalf of Haruna Dangyatin, National Vice Chairman of the zone and Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly.

The PCRC, in its meeting held on Sunday in Kaduna, resolved that no executive or member of the committee would take part in the planned protests. The communique emphasized the need for all Nigerians to trust in the government’s efforts to address the current economic challenges.

“The meeting resolved that no executive or member of the PCRC shall participate in the proposed protests and has called on the Nigerian youths and the public to shun the proposed protests scheduled to take place on August 1,” the communique stated. It added, “The PCRC advises all to reconsider their stand and believe in the government as they are working around the clock to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians, especially the masses.”

Isa highlighted that the PCRC, along with Zonal and State commands’ Chairmen, has been actively engaging stakeholders to find peaceful resolutions to the demands arising from the current economic situation. These engagements aim to foster dialogue and understanding, ensuring that the concerns of Nigerians are addressed without resorting to disruptive protests.

“The committee under the leadership of Mogaji Olaniyan stands with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to continue to serve the nation diligently. He has directed all PCRC Executives and members to use all their powers to protect the Nigeria Police,” Isa noted.

In light of potential threats, the PCRC has pledged to safeguard police stations, properties, and vehicles across various commands. This commitment underscores the PCRC’s dedication to maintaining law and order and supporting the police in their efforts to ensure public safety.

“We will give adequate protection to their stations, properties, and vehicles in their various commands in case of attacks on them,” Isa affirmed.

The PCRC’s appeal reflects a broader call for cooperation and patience from the Nigerian public. As the government works to implement measures aimed at economic recovery, the PCRC encourages all citizens to support these efforts through peaceful means and constructive dialogue.

By advocating for peace and trust in the government’s initiatives, the PCRC North-West Zone aims to foster a more stable and harmonious society, ensuring that the challenges faced by Nigerians are addressed in a manner that promotes unity and progress.
