Nigeria: About 2000 Children Immunized In Kaduna Through Journalists Against Polio Intervention

Date:

The activities of a nongovernmental organization, Journalists Initiative on immunization Against Polio, JAP, has led to successful immunization of about Two Thousand Children during the March 2024 round Polio Immunization Exercise in Kaduna State.

State coordinator of the organization, Mallam Lawal Dogara made this known in a statement made available to Newsmen in Kaduna.
He said since 2007 JAP have been conducting Road Shows, Drama Performances, sensitization programmes and Town Hall meetings with community leaders for the promotion of Polio vaccines.

The statement notes that for every round of polio exercise in Kaduna State, JAP usually do its programmes as a follow up in various communities across Local Government Areas to get to children who missed out in the House to House vaccination.

It says during the March Polio vaccination, the organization visited 4 Local Government Areas which are, Ikara, Igabi, Zaria and Kaduna South all in Kaduna State where about 2,000 children were vaccinated in the process.
The statement commended WHO as well as the Kaduna state government which is working through the State Primary Healthcare Agency for success of all vaccination programmes in the State.

It advises parents not to relent in the efforts towards ensuring a polio free Nigeria by bringing out their children from age 0 to 5 years to receive the vaccination at every round of the exercise
