Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has sworn-in new political appointees, imploring them to engage in agriculture to feed the nation and create wealth for themselves and the state.

The ceremony of Special Advisers and inauguration of Heads of Government Agencies and Constituency Liaison Officers took place on Monday at Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State, Hon. Chris Hassan, Secretary to the Government of the State, Arc. Samuel Jatau, Chief of Staff Government House Jos, Engr. Jeremiah Satmark, as well as party loyalists and supporters.

Governor Mutfwang congratulated the appointees and charged them to be patriotic, dedicated, and committed to selfless services to the state and the nation. He said they have been chosen based on their merit, experience, and competence, and he expects them to deliver on their mandates.

Governor Mutfwang said his administration will create the enabling environment to accommodate more people in government within the limited resources, and appealed for more patience and understanding from those who have not been appointed to serve. He assured them that his government is inclusive and responsive to the needs and aspirations of all Plateau people.

He expressed his determination to bequeath a united and prosperous Plateau, where people irrespective of faith, ethnic and regional affiliations will carry out their peaceful businesses to the greater interest of the people, the state and the nation. He said his government is working hard to improve the security, infrastructure, health, education, and agriculture sectors of the state.

The Governor urged the appointees to join hands with him to create wealth for the state, saying the country is facing one of its worst economic challenges at the moment. He explained that the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited the most turbulent economic downturn since 1999 and solicited the prayer and commitment of Nigerians in addressing the situation.

He urged the Special Advisers to put on their thinking caps and look for investors who will invest in the state to create means of sourcing revenue to grow the state. He said Plateau State has a lot of potentials and opportunities in agriculture, tourism, mining, and other sectors that can attract local and foreign investors. He tasked Constituency Liaison Officers to step-down government activities to their respective Local Governments to keep people abreast of government policies and achievements. He also advised them to be good ambassadors of their constituencies and report any issues or challenges that may require government intervention.

Special Adviser on National Assembly to the Governor, Rt. Hon. George Daika thanked the Governor for choosing them for the assignments and assured him of the commitment of his colleagues to deliver effective service to the state. He said they are grateful for the opportunity and privilege to serve the state and the nation. He pledged their loyalty and support to the Governor and his vision for Plateau State.
