A Frontline grassroots movement, National Youth Alliance (NYA) President, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas has tasked elder statesmen to wake up from their slumber to prevent Nigeria from further sliding into a failed state.

This is contained in a statement signed by his SA Media and Publicity, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made available to Africa Prime News on Tuesday January 23, 2024.

“NYA is worried about our dear country Nigeria and its future, especially as it affects the youth, which form the bulk of the over 200 million population

“Recent happenings are not good tidings and make us wonder which future would be bequeathed to us as youth looking forward to a promising and prosperous Nigeria.

“We are worried, hence this passionate call to our elder statesmen, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), Distinguished Senator David Alechenu Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Professor Ango Abdullahi, Chief Edwin Clark, General TY Danjuma (rtd), Alhaji Aliko Dangote, General Zamani Lekwot (rtd), Chief Audu Ogbe, Rt. Honourable Bello Masari, Alhaji Sule Lamido, Rt. Honourable Rotimi Amaechi, General Tukur Buratai (rtd) and many others too numerous to mention, to rise to the occasion and salvage our dear country, ” the group said.

NYA lamented that despite the huge potentials of Nigeria, getting a leader to harness it has become a Herculean task, owing to the disposition of the political elite, who are either pursuing ethnic or regional agenda while in office.

They called on youths all over the country to remain resolute and hope for the best even as they are urged to develop themselves through skills acquisition to be able to cope in this “economic dead end”.

The group advised the federal and state governments to focus on things that would unite, rather than further divide the citizens.

They further, advised that an economic blueprint that would consider Nigeria’s peculiarity be developed, to nurture a home grown economic system that would yield results in the short and long term.
