The Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has organized a lecture in memory of the late Premiere of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto.
The Lecture which was an annual event attracted many personalities from within and outside the State.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of an award of honour to Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, for his contributions to the development of journalism profession.
The Katsina State Council of the NUJ described the Kanwan Katsina who is one of the patrons as a prominent traditional ruler who identifies and contributes to the development of journalism in the State and beyond.
Receiving the Award, the traditional ruler thanked members of the fourth estate of the realm for acknowledging his contribution, especially at the remembrance of the late premiere of northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello and Sardauna of Sokoto.
As a Former Reporter with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Kaduna and Customs Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara assured of continued partnership between his palace and the Media on public enlightenment, especially at the grassroots.

Earlier in an address of welcome, the NUJ Council Chairman, Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan Ali said the annual event was organized to celebrate the Late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello and all those who followed his footsteps in the development of the North and Humanity in general.
The event, themed “The North Should Rise Again” featured paper presentations by different scholars with highlights on the achievements of the late Premier.
