Nigeria: Jigawa Restates Commitment To Cushioning Effects Of Subsidy Removal

Concerned by the high level of poverty and cost of living, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has restated his Administration’s commitment to continue implementing policies and programmes that would reduce the suffering of people occasioned by fuel subsidy removal

Receiving a delegation of Non- indigenes resident in the State led by Pastor Ibrahim Yahaya, at the Govt House, the governor said he was worried by the level of poverty and high cost of living adding that his administration is working out various interventions to cushion the effects on the people.

The governor told the delegation that recently the government distributed food stuffs and cash transfer to most vulnerable groups in the state as palliatives.

The exercise, he explained, took place across the 27 local government council areas, stressing the beneficiaries cut- across all the areas.
