As the Kogi Guber Election tribunal commences sitting, the SDP Campaign Council says it has received Information from reliable sources that, there are plans to flood the rooms where sensitive materials are kept in Lokoja to destroy the election materials.

A statement by the Director of New Media, SDP Campaign Council, Isaiah Davies Ijele also alleged that “a close relative of the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Kobo Adamu, who is a staff of INEC has access to all details regarding the movement and storage facilities of the election sensitive materials.

“As an independent institution, it is not acceptable to have individuals who have close ties to key stakeholders, around election materials. Therefore we demand that, the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu to order for the immediate movement of all materials to the Abuja head office for safekeeping. “Additionally, the transfer of anyone with a close association to the materials should be mandated to safeguard democracy in Kogi State.

“The safety of these election-sensitive materials cannot be compromised, especially considering the significant amount of government and taxpayers’ money used for their procurement. The SDP Muri/Sam Campaign Council urges INEC and the Federal Government to act swiftly and decisively to prevent any attempts to undermine the integrity of the institution in Kogi State”, the statement concludes.
