NUJ Cautions NAWOJ On Violation Of Constitution

The Jigawa State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, ( NUJ) has warned members of NAWOJ not to violate its Constitution as NUJ will neither support any erring member nor illegal leadership emanating from the Association.

The Chairman of the Council, Comrade Garba Mohammed Balangu gave the warning while addressing newly elected EXCOs of NAWOJ in Dutse.

He was referring to the actions of some NAWOJ members whom he described as mischief makers that had called for unlawful assembly without the consent of both the NAWOJ National body and the North West Zonal offices to hold a purpoted election which he vehemently kicked against.

“NUJ being a professional body will not support erring members who are all out to forment trouble or creating unnecessary confusion in either the NUJ or NAWOJ,”

The Council Chairman categorically stated that NUJ would never support racial discrimination of any individual aspiring for elective post in either the NUJ or NAWOJ once the constitutional provision of his or her union was followed.

” Our constitution and that of NAWOJ are very clear on the procedures for aquiring leadership positions. Therefore the question of racial discrimination or sagregation is rulled -off, every member is free to vye for any position of his desire provided he followed constitutional procedures of his union”.

Balangu charged the newly NAWOJ executives to live above board in carrying their members along, as well guide against violation of NAWOJ Constitution in the discharge of their duties.

In her remarks, the NAWOJ National Vice Chairperson North West Zone, Comrade Halima Musa commended the efforts and giant stride of the jigawa NUJ council in ensuring justice and fair play in the coming on board of the newly elected NAWOJ state executives, noting that without that support NAWOJians couldn’t have succeeded.

Mrs Musa enjoined the newly jigawa Exco to work hard in taking NAWOJ to greater heights.

In her acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairperson, Comrade Hawwa Ladan, pledged to consolidate on their past success in moving NAWOJ forward.

According to her, “We pledged to redouble our efforts this time around to live above board, and to abide by our constitution as desciplined NAWOJ families, assuring we will carry along our members in supporting their noble cause objectively for our collective goods.

The new Executives, are Comrade Hauwa Ibrahim Ladan Chairperson, Fadila Baffa Abdulkadir as Vice Chairperson, Zainab Baba Aliyu Santali secretary, Nafisa Hassan Abdullahi Assistant Secretary, Halima Yusuf treasurer, Safiya Inuwa Musa Financial Secretary and Zainab J. Chiroma Auditor .
