Nigeria: Gombe New Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Usman Assumes Duty

The Gombe State New Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Usman has assumed duty.The new CP, the 22nd, to serve the command, assumed duty on the 13th of November 2023, following the statutory retirement of CP Oqua Etim, on 18/10/2023 for attaining the mandatory 60 years of age.

A statement by the Command’s Spokesman,, Asp Mahid Muazu Abubakar has said.
CP Hayatu Usman, Psc was born on 12th February 1965 in Kazaure LGA of Jigawa State. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a cadet ASP at the Nigeria Police Academy Kaduna Annex. CP Usman holds a BSc in Economics/Sociology from Bayero University Kano.

Throughout his career, CP Hayatu Usman Psc has served in various States across the Federation. Some notable positions he held include patrol and guard officer B division in Bukuru, Jos, SCID Jos, OC Miango Police Station in Bassa LGA, Plateau State, DCO Oruwa division in Oyo State, DPO Central Police Station Gusau, and DPO Maitama division in FCT. He also served as the Area Commander Zuru in Kebbi State and DC DOPS Zone 8 HQ Lokoja. Before his promotion to Commissioner of Police, he served as the DC Operations in Gombe State Command.

Furthermore, CP Hayatu Usman Psc has received specialized training, including the Intermediate Command Course and Strategic Leadership Command Course at the Police Staff College Jos.

The new Commissioner of Police seeks the support and cooperation of the general public in combatting crime within the state. He is committed to implementing proactive policing strategies and community policing to ensure a safer Gombe State.

CP Usman’s hobbies include reading and watching movies, and he is happily married with children.
