In a transformative event aimed at empowering the next generation of leaders, the Salma Attah foundation for women and Girls Support successfully hosted the Ignite Her Summit 1.0. The summit, held on the 11th of October 2023 to mark international day of the girl child, brought together inspiring figures and eager young minds from 11 local schools, along with esteemed guests including Mary Noel Berje, Special Adviser to the Governor on Affirmative Action, and Hajiya Adama Lami Ibrahim from the Ministry of Education, representing the Commissioner of Education.
The event, graced by the presence of various governmental representatives, including that of the Commissioner of Transport, Hajiya Hadiza Kuta as well as Haj Maryam Lemu, a renowned motivational speaker, focused on nurturing leadership skills, fostering gender equality, and promoting education.
Students from Government Day Secondary School, Old Airport school, Girls Day, Ahmadu Bahago school, Al-Ali international school, Zarumai Model School, Gov Girls Day Secondary School, Gov Day Tunga, Bosso Secondary School and FOMWAN Islamic School engaged in dynamic discussions, workshops, quizzes and debates. These activities were designed to cultivate critical thinking, enhance leadership abilities, and bolster self-confidence among the participants.
The summit also provided a platform for attendees to delve into essential topics such as girl child education, leadership, and gender equality. Through insightful panel discussions and interactive sessions, students had the opportunity to learn from strong female role models, gaining valuable insights into diverse fields.
During the event, outstanding participants were recognized and awarded certificates for their active participation and dedication. The top three schools, Ali Ali international school , Fomwan Islamic school and Old Airport school were lauded for their exemplary engagement throughout the summit.
