National Fire Academy, Nigerian Defence Academy Induct Students For Disaster, Risk Management Programmes

Date:

The Controller General of Federal Fire Service, Engr Jaji O. Abdulganiyu has charged newly admitted students of Master and Post graduate Studies in Disaster and Risk Management Programme to be focussed, goal and success oriented in the pursuit of there goal as safety managers.

He further encouraged them to ensure that after graduation, they should be change agents who will be able to make a world of difference through an application of an enhanced management strategy to disasters and risks.

The CG places high premium on the programme and training of the safety officer because of the important role that the safety of lives and property plays in the livelihood and economy as a nation.

“It is worthy of note that Four years ago, the National Fire Academy(NFA) in collaboration with the Nigerian Defense Academy(NDA) inducted the first students who were fortunate to be admitted for Masters and Post graduate course in Disaster and Risk Management. Today, the fourth set of admitted students just had their induction and administration of oath for the said programme.

“This is coming at the time when the Service is gearing up to align with the President Tinubu’ s administration’ “Renewed Hope” agenda in virtually all sectors of the economy, including the Defense and Safety Industry”.

It was a ceremony of brief speeches delivered by Senior Officers and men from both Academia. It had in attendance men of high standing in the Safety Industry, the likes of the CGF Engr Jaji O. Abdulganiyu ably represented by the Commandant of the NFA Assistant Controller General Baro Alfa, Prof BJ Ajibuya, Director of Linkages and Collaboration, Prof Moses (rep) Dean Post Graduate Studies, Prof Oluwole, Director of Programmes, Dr Caroline, and a few more officers from the NDA.

Guidelines for the programme, how it is structured for best results, and the need for focussed engagement, discipline and sense of purpose amongst other things were reeled out and reiterated so as to prepare the minds of the inductees for what is up ahead.

A statement by the Spokesman of the Service, AC Paul O. Abraham said it was obvious that the programme was not like any other programme because of the levels of discipline, pragmatism and diligence attributed to it.

The high point of the induction which took place at the National Fire Academy Sheda, was the administration of oath and a special session of interaction between the NFA programme coordinator and students.
