The Jigawa Environmental Protection Agency, ( JISEPA) in conjunction with the state Ministry of Environment have vowed to making Jigawa State a pollution free environment.

The Managing Director, Engineer Lawal Ahmed stated this at a news briefing as part of awareness campaigns towards refuse evacuation in Dutse metropolis.

According to him, the agency is blessed with qualified sanitary personnel to face the task of ensuring the protection of the environment to improve sanitary condition of the community

“We evacuate waste in major towns in the 27 LGAs in Jigawa state, while the introduction of monthly sanitation will commence by the end of this month ( September) where we expect public support to achieve the desired objectives.

According to him, JISEPA will continue to monitor and ensure strict compliance with environmental laws to ensure a healthy environment.

“For example, we have undertaken three months intensive clearing of refuse, drinages as well the evacuation of other pollution wastes in metropolitan Dutse from March to July this year among other places.

“Also, we have succeeded in arresting environmental hygiene offenders in places like Kafin-Hausa, Hadejia, Ringim, etc where after arrests, we also prosecute many offenders under environmental laws.

On illegal fallen of trees, JISEPA Boss advocates stiff penalty ,or review the existing laws to serve as deterrent to others.
