Community Mobilization Strategy For Increasing Demand, Utilization Of Health Services For Women, Children -KADMAM

Kaduna Maternal Accountability Mechanism, KADMAM has identified community mobilization as an important strategy for increasing demand and utilization of health services, especially for women and children.

It was against this background, KADMAM organized a One day sensitization training on the importance of FP, benefit of attending antenatal clinic, facility delivery and post-natal care.

Participants drawn from Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn Child Adolescent and Elderly Health +Nutrition, (RMNCAEH+N) champions, women groups, persons with disabilities, the media and Ward Development Committees who are managers of the facilities.

The participants after the capacity building, gave an undertaking to step down at their various platforms what they had acquired in order to create social change, haven built consciousness and empowering Community members to take charge of their own health

KADMAM’S Ag. Co- Chair-CS, Isa Gidado reaffirmed their commitment to continue using evidence based for advocacy and mobilize communities through continued partnership with the stakeholders

He noted with concern that Kaduna State had the worst record of maternal death but expressed the hope that the situation could change for better.
Gidado who was relying on evidence base, said most of the children who died each year of preventable deaths, could have been saved, if cost effective measures were adapted.

These measures include vaccines, antibiotics, micronutrients, supplementation, insecticide treated net, breastfeeding and oral rehydration therapy.
