The list of sixteen commissioner nominees  forwarded to the State Legislature by Gov. Umar Namadi for consideration has attracted mixed reactions from across section of the people.

Those who spoke to AFRICA PRIME NEWS noted that a part from  recycling those who had served and could not deliver, the nomination was also lopsided and lacked equity as some local government areas were marginalized.

The critics of the nomination are therefore calling for the withdrawal of the list of the Commissioner Nominees by the Governor to do the needful.

Findings by AFRICA PRIME NEWS revealed that the inclusion of some Commissioners who served in the immediate past administration, generated a heated debate among members of the State House of Assembly, haven identified them to have performed woefully while in office.

According to Comrade Bala Dutse “our argument is why bringing them back, don’t we have other competent persons who can do the job.

Speaking in the same vein, Shehu Katanga advised Governor Umar Namadi against lopsided appointments.

“While commending Governor (Mallam) Danmodi’s popularity and acceptance, it is also good that he meets public expectations and confidence to justify the belief, that he, Mallam is up to the task and ready to change Jigawa State for the better”, he said.

Others are also questioning why Ringim, Gumel, Kazaure, Hadejia, and Birnin Kudu Local Government Areas are given much undue advantage and favoritism with more slots than what the constitution provides.

A Dutse based APC Chieftain, Taura, while briefing the press in Dutse stated that the list of commissioner nominees contradicts section 14(4) of the Nigerian constitution and that it doesn’t go down well with the ruling party, APC as well as the people.

“The nomination of commissioners has flagrantly violated section 14(4) of the Nigerian constitution as amended.

The list favours some LGAs of Jigawa state with two slots while some more politically influential LGAs were left with nothing”.
