The bold steps taken by the Uba Sani led administration in Kaduna state recently to review the state and conditions of the ongoing roads construction contracts has recieved wide commendations even beyond the state.
To many, this is a singular act of courage, and it has placed the incumbent governor and the government of Kaduna state on a high scale of accountability.
Recalled that Gov. Uba Sani recently constituted a committee with the terms of reference to determine the status of all ongoing projects across the state and get the details of contractual agreements/obligations. One of the mandates of the committee is to also find out the funding arrangements and commitments of parties; find out the completion period of the projects and come up with specific recommendations on each of them in four weeks.
Without mincing words, investigation has revealed that a construction firm; Ronchess Global Resources Limited is one of the major contractors in the state, handling some portion of the ongoing road projects in Zaria, Danbushia, Sulta road projects, among others.
These projects titled: Kaduna State Road Agency (KADRA) Urban Renewal Road Projects were being carried out in the state, in government’s quest to give a better life to the people of the state.
However, as residents of the state are currently enjoying these projects, a woman contractor, Mrs. Bolanle Ogundele is currently in pains due to the refusal of Messers Ronchess Global Resources Limited to pay her the sum of fourteen million naira owed her company for the supply of materials since June 2022 , despite repeated demand.
According to her, her company, Bolanle I Ogundele Ventures supplied to Messers Ronchess Global Resources Limited, through a purchasing order materials worth over forteen million naira to the company since last year and the money has not been paid. The materials which included sharp sand, hard core granites and stone base were supplied to the company and confirmed by the company for the ongoing road projects.
She alleged that the refusal of Messers Ronchess Global Resources Limited to settle the debt has exposed her to ridicule from those her company collected the materials on credit to carry out the supply, due to her failure to pay the money for the aforementioned materials.
Speaking further, she said although, she instituted a civil case before a court to retrieve the money, but up till the time of this Press Conference, nothing came out of it, alleging that ‘It is because I am a woman, or is an attempt to frustrate my efforts,” the woman contractor lamented.
When contacted, the Chief Executive Officer of Ronchess Global Resources Limited, Mr. Jackson Ukuevo did not deny owning the contractor/supplier the said amount.
However, it becomes important at this moment for the Kaduna state government not to allow the attitude of the said construction company; Ronchess Global Resources Limited to dent the image of the government or allowing people to push illogical narratives about the government.
Among many others who believe in the integrity and transparency nature of the Uba Sani led administration is Mrs. Bolanle Ogundele, and she should not be left to remain in this undue pains.
