Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna Council has applauded the Governor of Kaduna state, Senator Uba Sani for the show of love to the Union and her members, describing it as a new dawn for both the union and the state government.
This followed the donation of a cow by the Governor through the office of his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Lawal Shehu to the union at the weekend.
The Chairman of the Council, Hajia Asma’u Yawo Halilu, while receiving the cow on behalf of the council members, explained that the kind gesture is an attestation to the fact that Governor Sani is committed to the welfare of journalists in the state.
While assuring the Governor of the union’s support towards projecting the activities of his government, Asma’u added that, “as members of the fourth estate and being the watch dog of the society, we are committed towards ensuring that the government delivers on its electioneering campaigns promises.”
“We are sincerely appreciative of this kind gesture, and this is a sign of a new begining. This is a departure from the recent past and it will not be taken for granted by the union and her members. This will definitely strengthen the already established working relationship between the union and the Uba Sani led administration.”
The union leader prayed to God to reward the Governor for his kindness and generosity, just as she urged the state government to sustain the relationship.
Meanwhile, the CPS who was represented at the presentation by the Director, Information Public Affairs Office, Nabilah Hassan, explained that the gesture was aimed at strengthening partnership with journalists in the state.
Mrs. Hassan further explained that the present administration is committed towards partnering the media to ensure positive reportage of all it’s policies and projects.
