A mammoth crowd stormed the Kano venue of the inauguration of the new Governor, Abba Yusuf Kabiru, leading to the partial collapse of the podium while the governor was delivering his speech.
Supporters of the Governor were seen hanging on and also on top of the podium’s pillar, mounting pressure on it.
At the Sani Abacha Stadium where the event took place, crowd control appeared to be a big challenge as the expected parade could not hold due to an overwhelming crowd that invaded the parade ground.
Various supporters of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) came out in numbers from all the various local government areas of the state to witness the swearing-in of the governor.
