Nigeria: Governor Badaru of Jigawa Dissolves Cabinet, Commissions Projects

Governor Badaru hands over govt policy documents to the incoming Governor, Umar Namadi at Govt. House Dutse

Ahead of Monday’s handover to the incoming administration, Governor Badaru of Jigawa state has dissolved his cabinet and inaugurated newly completed projects.

The dissolution of the cabinet signified the end of his administration and paved the way for the new leadership starting on May 29th, under Umar Namadi, the current Deputy Governor.

“We have accomplished significant milestones during our tenure, and I am proud of the hard work and dedication displayed by my cabinet members,” Governor Badaru Abubakar stated. “As we prepare for the handover, I have taken the decision to dissolve the cabinet to allow the incoming administration to commence their work promptly,” he added.

Soon after the Badaru went on to inaugurate projects including access roads in Dutse, the state capital, such as the 8.5 kilometre Government House – airport road, Shagari quarters – Burtalan – 3 Star Hotel Junction, and Dutse market access roads.

Others were Zandam Nagogo township roads in Gwaram-LGA, and Gwaram – Warji – Basirka road, linking Jigawa and neighbouring Bauchi state.

Similarly, Governor Badaru inaugurated Gwaram, Gantsa General Hospitals, the Infectious Diseases Hospital Dutse, as well as the Dutse Mega School.

Reacting, the incoming Governor, Umar Namadi, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and assured the people of Jigawa State of his commitment to continuing the progress initiated by the outgoing administration.

“I am honored to have been elected as the next Governor of Jigawa State. I will build upon the foundation laid by Governor Badaru Abubakar and work tirelessly to fulfill the aspirations of our people,” he declared.

The transition process will involve comprehensive briefings and handover notes to ensure a smooth transfer of responsibilities.

The duo, outgoing Governor Badaru, and incoming Governor, Namadi pledged to work closely to guarantee a seamless transition and uninterrupted governance in Jigawa State.
