The Rotary Alumni association of District 9125, has donated school bags, kitchen utensils, bedsheets and other household items to Kids With A Vision Foundation (K-WAVF) orphanage in Jos, Plateau State

The items were donated to the orphanage on Friday.

Speaking while presenting the donation, the Zonal Coordinator of the alumni, Mr James Ugbeda, said that it was an act of love by the association which is the guiding principle of rotary.

He said that the visit was to felicitate the children and encourage them as part of activities for their 2023 reunion and Annual General Meeting holding in Jos.

He described the association as an extension of rotary comprising a group of people who have participated in any rotary programme in the past such as Rotaract, rotary scholarships and its peace fellowships amongst others.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Mr Sunny Dung, said that the orphanage was selected following the ordeal of their struggle in securing accommodation for the children.

“We came to supervise the place earlier last year, when we heard that they were ejected from their former place,” he said.

Similarly the Zonal Coordinator of Rotary, District 9125, Dr Ugo Ihekuna, described rotary as a humanitarian group consisting of professionals and business “people who reach out to the needy to alleviate their hardship”.

He prayed for a secured future for the children and thanked the management of K-WAVF for giving hope to the children and indigents.

In her response, the Global Director of K-WAVF, Mrs Grace Solomon, thanked rotary for their act of kindness and meeting the needs of the children.

She said that operating an orphanage required partnership for its success, saying “no contribution was little to meet the need of an orphan child.

“We have 54 children and just one month here and we appreciate your efforts to enable the children to settle in with ease”.(NAN)
