Failure to authorize the payment of April salary to workers to celebrate Sallah has generated anger among workers faulting Governor Badaru on the rationale behind dennying them their pay, but sponsoring large contingent of govt officials, politicians with tax payers’ money on lesser Hajj- to Saudi Arabia.
The workers were expressing their worries as government left them to observe a bleak Sallah Celebration, leaving their families uncared for.
Speaking to Africa Prime News Correspondent, Spokesman for the workers, Mal. Shehu Dutse said ” before, we put all our hope in getting April salary for the Sallah only for Governor Badaru to dash our hopes, for unknown reasons, but he loaded huge amount of our hard earnings to sponsor large contingent of government officials and politicians on lesser Hajj to Saudi Arabia, what an irony, he questioned.
” Does your lesser Hajj trip more important to the welfare of your state work force? Or to what impacts does your politicking trip to the holy Land will be, to both the worker’s and the state, these we demand the answers from our Governor, said the Spokesman.
“That’s how we will be paid back after sufferings in sharing their odds in the last eight years.
“Or does it mean after serving them that’s how they will pay us back in most disgraceful posture”, he asks..
According to him, what baffles the workers, was how Governor Badaru hosted his guests comfortably in Saudi Arabia with tax payers money leaving them to observe bleak Sallah without much food to feed, to clothes our families but only to embark on politicking campaigns meeting in the holy Land with our hard earnings monies.
The workers described governor’s action as ill-matured and uncalled for, warning that “we won’t take this horrible faul play any more in future, as government is for commitment, and welfarism of the citizenry to drive meaningful developments for all and sundry”.
Our Correspondent however gathered that Governor Badaru had wanted to authorize the payment of both April salary and money for pensioners before his departure to the Saudi Arabia, but couldn’t, due to government bureaucracy.
Efforts in getting in touch with the Head of Service for further comment, proved abortive.
