Nigeria: Corrupt Judge Sent on Compulsory Retirement In Jigawa

Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission in North West Nigeria, has approved the compulsory retirement of an Upper Sharia Court judge , Alkali Safiyanu Muhammad Dabi for collecting N50,000 bribe.

A statement issued by the Director Publicity and Protocol Matters, State Judiciary, Abbas Rufai Wangara, also announced the the promotion of four senior staff to various positions by the commission.

The Commission also approved the appointments of Barr. Aliyu Muhammad as Deputy Chief Registrar, while two Shari`ah court judges, Barr. Abdulrasheed Alhassan, and Barrister Muhammad Lawal were promoted Chief Inspector Sharia Court, and Zonal Deputy Chief Inspector Shariah Court of Appeals, respectively.

The commission warned that any judicial officer found wanting in the cause of discharging his duties would either be shown the way out or be forced to face the wrath of the law.
