As Liberia goes to elections in October this year, Deputy Education Minister for Administration, Latim Dathong has encouraged young people, especially students to make a comparative decision with the 170 years of existence of Liberia and the six years of President George Weah regime.
He said an election is a formal decision-making process by which a population chooses an individual or multiple individuals to hold public offices.
The Deputy Education Minister who was speaking to scores of students recently in Monrovia, asserted that unlike previous administrations that had failed the country, the term of President Weah has enabled students in Liberia to have access to quality and free education.
Minister Dathong highlighted the government’s commitment to paying the WASSCE fees of senior secondary students and the declaration of free education in public universities and colleges for students as major deliverables of the Weah led administration.
He revealed that such efforts of the government has dropped the huge rate of young people being out of school in Liberia than in previous regimes where the costs of education even at public education institutions were unaffordable for the downtrodden masses.
As Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Education, Board Chairman and Founder of Starz University that provides IT and Business education in Liberia, Latim Dathong is currently sponsoring several students in Liberia at all levels.
