A Nigerian Court of Appeal in Gombe has nullified the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election the produced Joshua Lidani as the party’s candidate for the Gombe South senatorial zone.

The three judges led by Justice Ali Gumel granted the appeal filed by on of the contestants, Bilyaminu Babadidi, setting aside the ruling of the Federal High Court in Gombe on 6th of December 2022, which ruled in favour of Mr. Lidani.

The Appeal Court admitted the reliefs from the appellant, and queries the political party for not giving fair treatment to all aspirants, voters and agents during the primaries.

Acting on the report from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the court stated that there was abundant evidence the primaries were not fair, given that there was only one signatory on the results of the primaries excluding other designated signatories.

The court says the primaries were fundamentally  bad, illegal in its conduct and outcome thus the primary election was nullified.
