Nigeria Reviews Salaries and Wages of Politicians and Judicial Workers

TheRevenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission has commences Public Hearing in all the Six Geo-Political Zones of Nigeria, for the review of remuneration package of political and judicial office Holders.

Speaking at a one day zonal Public Hearing for the Northwest held in Kano, Chairman of the Commission, Mohammad Bello Shehu said President Mohammad Buhari has mandated the Commission to review the remuneration packages.

He said five weeks ago the Federal Executive Council had deliberated on other remuneration packages for political office holders, and directed the commission to ensure adequate review of the packages.

”The public hearing for the Northwest zone is being held in Kano, North Central is being held in Jos, North East in Bauchi, South South in Bayelsa, South East in Enugu, and South West in Akure”

“We are here to Engage all the Stakeholders from various states of the Northwest, labour leaders, judicial officer , government officials, and legislatures, so that they can give us their own views before the commission takes the Final Stand on this.“

Mr. Shehu Noted that the commission had already set a committee named Remuneration and Monetization Committee which is spearheading the programme.

In a remark, Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress Kano Chapter, Kabiru Ado Minjibir, who spoke on behalf of NLC chairmen of the Northwest Zone, called on the Commission to ensure every remuneration is justified, and that the Bench Mark Must reflect equity.

Representatives from States in the zone and other stakeholders presented various opinions on the remuneration package.
