Preparatory to the full scale E-learning in Kaduna State, the Ministry of Education said it has received 880 tablet computers and 40 Projectors from the United Nations Children’s Fund, Unicef
Unicef has also equiped an E-learning centre and funded the training of teachers and mentors across the 23 Local government areas of the State.
The Director, Education Planning and Physical Development, Salisu Baba Lawal disclosed this Thursday during an advocacy visit by the Family Health Advocates in Nigeria Initiative, FHANI
The advocacy working group is implementing a Rise Up project for formulation and adoption of E-learning policy and implementation framework in secondary schools which is supported by Public Health Institute, Oakland California, USA.
Baba Lawal who received the advocacy group, was appreciative of Unicef and FHANI and enjoined other partners to come onboard
The Director explained that they could assist the ministry in the training of teachers and students on ICT to improve on the E-learning at all levels of education in the State.
He expressed the hope of attaining 70% coverage of the schools population between now and 2025.
Baba Lawal said the State Government acknowledged the importance of E-learning adding that the policy document, would be in place within a reasonable time.
“We have reached out to other technical partners and relevant MDAs to work on various reports to actualize our goals,” he said.
Earlier, the FHANI team led by the Chairman, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Tijjani commended the ministry for the understanding and closer cooperation as well the State Government, for its technology-driven in governance.
He reminded the host that FHANI was all out to see how it could work with the ministry and other stakeholders to have a Document, developed.
The stakeholders, he emphasized, could come together at a forum towards developing the policy document that would also suit the Kaduna environment.
