Full scale schools e-learning in Kaduna State is to go into operation by the First Quarter of 2023.
This is at the heels of an Advocacy Project for the formulation and adoption of e-learning policy and implementation framework in public secondary schools in Kaduna State, being implemented by the Family Health Advocates in Nigeria Initiative, FHANI.
The project is under Rise Up and funded by Public Health Institute, Oakland in California, USA.
Though, the e-learning is on in the State , there is no policy document to back it up for sustainability.
E-learning was used for WAEC prospective students during COVID-19 lockdown in which progressive results were reportedly recorded in the examination.
The State Commissioner for Education, Halima Lawal who gave the indication of the full scale operation by next year, was receiving FHANI team, led by the Chairman, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Tijjani, Bunnun Zazzau on Thursday.
She told the team that the State had gone far in e-learning, saying that efforts would be made to bring all relevant departments to perfect the needful haven realized the positive impacts of the system on education in Kaduna State.
The Commissioner stated that Radio and Television platforms would be used for the e-learning which would cover both private and public schools.
Halima, along top officials of the Ministry lauded FHANI’s activities and promised to work closer with CSOs in the State in their collective desire for growth and development.
Earlier, FHANI Chairman and leader of the team, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Tijjani, Bunnun Zazzau had given a brief overview of the Advocacy Working Group’s activities which centred on family health and by extension, the children education.
He emphasized that the e-learning policy would help the over 50,000 out of school children arising from the prevailing insecurity situation in parts of the State, to still have access to learning outside classrooms.
Alhaji Bala said that FHANI strongly believe that the present Administration which is passionate about e- learning and IT driven, would oblige and do the needful for the overall benefit of the State.
Meanwhile, representatives of stakeholders from Civil Society Organizations, the media, religious and traditional leaders have declared their support and signed a Memorandum Of Understanding of the Rise Up project being implemented by FHANI .
The declaration and signing of the MOU took place on December 6th 2022 after a 2- day meeting with the stakeholders during which they were kept abreast with the project.
The traditional leaders were drawn from the five most insecurity affected LGAs of Kajuru, Chikun, Igabi, Giwa and Birnin Gwari and to be working with FHANI advocacy team.
