The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme (KSCHS) has immensely increased access to quality and affordable healthcare services in the state.
The assertion was made by the State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa in Kaduna during a 2-Day Strategic Retreat organized by the Kano Contributory Healthcare Management Agency to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas on policy and strategy implementation.
The commissioner said the scheme has been able to achieve the feat by ensuring availability of all essential drugs, consumables and other services in all the healthcare facilities engaged by the Scheme, including access to free services which were being given for free to all vulnerable groups who were enrolled under the Scheme..
He further said that the initiative has also contributed to the increase in turn out in health facilities, particularly antenatal attendance, by the enrollees.
Dr. Tsanyawa also commended the efforts of the Kano State House of Assembly and the Committee on Health, particularly Vice Chairman, Hon. Pharmacist Magaji Dahiru Zarewa) and other members of the House the members representing Gabasawa and Gaya Constituencies for providing time to witness the event..
In his remarks, the Chairman Governing Board of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), Dr. Basheer Ibraheem Mohammed ( Dankadai of Kano) stated that creating the Scheme has supported facilities to have more equipments and other infrastructure which helps individuals who live in distant communities to access services adding that this bring opportunities for increasing the well-being of residents in the State.
On her part, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Halima Muhammad Mijinyawa called on the people of Kano state to seize this golden opportunity to enroll their families into the Scheme so as have access to effective, qualitative and affordable Healthcare services as well as to protect their families from financial hardship of huge medical bill.
