Nigeria: Woman Torture 11-Year-Old Maid To Death In Plateau

Police in Jos, Nigeria, have arrested a woman, Nnaemeka Nwachukwu, a resident of K-Vom in Jos South Loal Government Area of Plateau state, for allegedly torturing and killing an 11-years- old girl (name withheld).

“We are investigating the matter, if the suspect is found wanting at the end of our investigation, we would charge her to court” Police spokesperson in Jos, DSP Alfred Alabo said.

The deceased was said to have been beaten and burnt with hot water by the suspect on Monday, 14th of November 2022 for masturbating.

Africa Prime News learnt that concerned neighbors rushed the deceased to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) when she ran out of the house in pains – she passed away 24 hours later.

Plateau State Coordinator, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Grace Nanya Pam told Africa Prime News on Wednesday, that late Miss Joshua was a domestic servant of the suspect.

“Nwachukwu has been reported on different occasions to the Police Division in K-Vom who advised the suspect to return the victim to her parents in Kebbi State but she failed to do so,” she said.

The NHRC coordinator further said the commission has made efforts to contact the family of the deceased but to no avail that it is why it has invited the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to start investigation.

“The corpse of the child has since been deposited in the mortuary at JUTH” she added.
