The centrally situated city of Anyigba in Kogi East, North Central Nigeria, witnessed thousands of Christian faithful who converged on the Headquarters of Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria between 26th and 29 October 2022 for the Annual Convention and 40th Anniversary of the Fellowship.

With the theme “Celebrating God’s Grace, Goodness and Glory, the 4-day event featured inspiring messages, praise and prayer sessions, hymns, inspiring songs by the CEFN National Choir, Prophetic prayer by the General Overseer, and Cathedral Fund Raising.

The General Overseer, Rev Dr. DB Usman

Among the ‘Men of God’ who delivered the inspiring messages were, the General Overseer, Rev. Dr. David Usman,”The Foundational and Ultimate Celebration”, Rev. Dr. Toma R. “Celebrating to the Glory of God”, Prof. A.Dangana “Celebrating God’s Faithfulness, Elder Dr. Victor Adoji “Political Awareness, and Apostle Ele Adejoh “Celebrating God’s Glory”.

There were Goodwill messages from former General Overseers as well as the CMML mission which gave birth to the CEFN and subsequent incorporation on 21st September 1982

To set the ball rolling, the General Overseer, Rev. Dr. David Usman who spoke of the significance of the Celebration, enjoined the multitude to appreciate God’s mercy and grace for keeping them thus far, with the need for the Fellowship to take stock of the achievements for these 40 years.
“We must thank God for keeping and sustaining CEFN thus far.
“We congratulate ourselves for keeping the flag flying. CEFN is surviving ! Hallelujah!.
“Time to project into the future to cover more grounds for evangelization, church planting leadership development, infrastructural development and economic self reliance”, the GO enumerated.

Speaking further on the Foundational and Ultimate Celebration, the GO told the multitude that there is a celebration that is free of charge, surpasses all others, without financial commitment, which is Salvation, quoting Psalm 35: 9.

Rev. Dr. Usman tasked the people to focus on heaven salvation by wearing the garment of righteousness.
He spoke against murder, abortion,  illicit drug among others, warning that a sinner can not wear the garment.

On his part, a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Author at the Kogi State University, Anyigba, Prof. A. Dangana who attributed his success in life to the CEFN, told the people that if their lives are pure, God would also be good to them. “God will be your everlasting light both day and night”, he remarks,
To demonstrate God’s goodness, Prof. Dangana donated 400 copies of his book “Power of Determination” which cost N2,000 per copy to be sold by the CEFN and retain the sales, while his wife also donated N100,000 cash.

Another Speaker, Apostle Eleojo Adejoh noted that God’s grace, mercy and glory have been demonstrated pointing out that, if God was not with the CEFN, the Fellowship won’t have reached 40 years to celebrate.
He enjoined the people to allow God to regulate their lives, otherwise, they will be lost. “God will not forsake righteous man”, he said.

And from the epicenter of Boko Haram, Borno State, came a One time Commissioner, Rev. Dr. Toma R. who biblically spoke on the significance of 40 years, saying Nigeria needs rebirth.

He said if they thought of the situation in Nigeria today, they won’t think of the anniversary and therefore enjoined them to remain steadfast and come closer to God.

Rev. Dr. Toma noted that Nigeria is the most religious country in the world but difficult to reconcile religiously, hence the need for the people to reflect their faith in whatever they do.

He condemned in a strong term, denials of admissions and teachings of Christian Religious Knowledge in schools in certain parts of the North, assuring the people that despite these challenges, they shall be victorious.

The Borno born Reverend, also tasked christians to produce fruits by winning others to Christ and not leaving that responsibility to pastors alone.
On their part, Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja and the PDP Senatorial Candidate for Kogi East, Elder Dr. Victor Adoji who attended the occasion pledged their continued support, especially to the ongoing construction of the Fellowship’s Cathedral.

Dr, Adoji, an optimistic Senator after next year’s election, according to him, donated N250,000, while the Deputy Governor who pledged a Five million Naira donation “to be raised through his friends” dolled out Five hundred thousand Naira on the spot.
