World Sight Day: 300 Patients Receive Free Eye Treatment From National Eye Centre

Pursuance to the celebration of World Sight Day, the National Eye Centre Kaduna on Thursday offered free eye treatment to over 300 patients.

Speaking at the event at Mando Motor Garage in Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria, the Chief Medical Director represented by the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) Dr. Amina Abdulraman said the essence for marking this Day is to draw attention to care of the eye. “We have stepped up in our team work, Doctors, opticians and all stakeholders are teaming up for care of the eye” she stressed

According to her, “we are celebrating this year’s World Sight Day in the motor park because the road unites us all and this drivers are key in transportation that is why we are giving them free eye treatment to drive advocacy for care of the eyes.

Earlier, the Chairman Local Organising Committee Dr.Peter Jiya said “if the world’s eye care needs were met, the impact would be most amazing. The World Sight Day is an annual event to raise awareness on the importance of good eye care around the globe,

“We are here to propagate the the care for our eyes and to combat avoidablebblindness Via public health talks, free eye streening and provision of basic support
to enhance good vision.” He added.

Also speaking, Doctors Tina Nwaogwugwu and Abdullahi Abubakar charged patients to avoid self medication and buying of glasses on the streets.
