Youths operating under the aegis of Kajuru Local Government Youths For Peace and Development have unequivocally reaffirmed their stance against alleged indirect endorsement of the current member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde.
Gov. Nasir El-rufai was said to have
during the presentation of the Staff of Office to the Etsu- Chikun on the 5th Oct. 2022, refered to the Lawmaker as a “good man” for consideration at the fourth coming general elections
In a communique after their emergency meeting and signed by the Secretary Nathan Dikko, the youths said while the Governor has his right to openly endorse any candidate (directly or Indirectly) from any political party, nevertheless, the choice of the people will speak at the polls come 2023.
“Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde has overstayed his time. He is a failed project that has spanned across 20years of mispresentation and the entire people of Kajuru have rejected his bid to return for the Sixth term.
” We unequivocally endorse the Powershift to Kajuru.
“We wish to appreciate the Governor for using this avenue to awaken our conscience and inspiring our unity to mobilise massively in support of the Powershift Project to ensure Justice, fairness and equity to the people of Kajuru.
“It is in this light also that we solicit the support of all well meaning citizens and eligible voters within the Chikun/ Kajuru constituency to align with this movement for the long overdue change so as to attract job provison, meaningful empowerment in the midst of hunger and poverty presently experienced in the country and general development of the constituency as witnessed in other Federal Constituencies.
On the insecurity in the area, the communique was of the view that “It is without a doubt that the Governor is not in tune with the current realities in the constituency as evident in the insecurity challenges bedeviling the constituency especially Kajuru where people are taken almost daily in their scores. Currently, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is in the hands of kidnappers for the 15th day with a demand for 50 million naira ransome, alongside the Vice Chairman of the party in Kajuru Local Government”,
We outrightly reject any form of endorsement by the governor. We shall speak loudly using the ballots…
