Following controversies over the conduct of census in Liberia, the Senate has confirmed that the National Population and Housing census begins in October this year.

The decision was reached following a voting process which approved the conduct of the census.

According to the Senate, the conduct of the Census will commence on October 24 to November 7, 2022.

Following the decision on Wednesday, River Gee County Senator Commany Wesseh told reporters that the date of the Census was reached through a consultative meeting held with the Senate leadership.

According to law, census should be conducted after a decade (ten years) in Liberia, but the country has failed to conduct its National Population and Housing Census since 2008.
