The National Elections Commission has released the calendar of events ahead of 2023 elections in Liberia.

According to the Commission, the tentative date for the Biometric Voters Registration is December 15, 2022

Making the disclosure to reporters on Wednesday, NEC Chairperson David-Etta Brown Lassanah said the biometric voters registration scheduled to begin in December, shows that the Commission is transitioning from the Optical Mark Recognition to biometrics.

She noted the Biometric Voter Registration exercise will now prevent multiple registrations, and ensure accuracy of the information collected for each registered voter among others.
The NEC Chairperson announced that the Commission has received $6 out of the $20 million U.S. dollars approved in the 2022 National Budget to start the biometric process.
