The Kano State government has reiterated its commitment towards illeteracy eradication in the state, saying its doors remain open to any Non Governmental organization that will complement its effort in providing qualitative education.
The Executive Secretary, Kano State Science and Technical Schools Board, Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi stated this while receiving members of Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning and Empowerement, AGILE, who paid him an advocacy visit at the board Headquarters.
Abdullahi explained that the present administration of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is highly committed towards illeteracy eradication by ensuring that each citizen is educated to the minimum of having a basic certificate.
The introduction of a Free Basic Education at basic and post basic level, he emphasized, is to scale up the level of school enrollment which is yielding positive results.
According to him, the coming of AGILE is a blessing to the educational sector of the state, noting that, despite the commitments of the government in the sector, more is needed through public Private partnership.
” The mission of the organization of uplifting the level of girl child education has been one among the issues that the board under his stewardship gives top priority through establishement of additional four Girls Science and Technical Colleges of Dala, New Mairo Tijjani, Professor Hafsa Ganduje in Gyadi Gyadi quarters and another one under construction in Ganduje Town. As at now, the girls child make the twenty five percent out of the total students of the board.
The Executive Secretary further pointed out that, the Board will continue to give all necessary cooperation to the AGILE project since its aim is to bring about transformation in the state education sector.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of the AGILE, Ado Tafida Zango, said they were in the office to solicit more support from the board being one of the critical stakeholders in the project, noting that, so far they have identified so many areas which the project will focus on.
