The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) in Paynesville City has embarked on various reforms ranging from on-air radio & television programs, infrastructure developments, human capacity building under the leadership of Madam Estelle Liberty Kemoh.
Part of the reforms was the distribution of high-quality mobile phones to its Correspondents across the fifteen political sub-divisions of Liberia on Thursday July 7, 2022, with a view to fast tracking news reporting for both radio and television.
The mobile phones which were distributed by the Director for Rural Broadcasting, Isaac G. Redd put smiles on the faces of local Journalists reporting for the State owned media
A survey recently conducted by Africa Prime News in five of the fifteen (15) counties of Liberia, Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Gbapolu, Bomi and Margibi revealed that nearly 80% percent of Journalists in those areas encountered difficulties in reporting effectively due to poor GSM network and low brand of phones used in that regard.
Receiving the mobile phones, the Correspondents lauded the administration of Madam Estelle Liberty Kemoh for the professional empowerment describing mobile phone as a major tool in reportage.
Meanwhile, the provision of the working tool is just a little of the giant strides being recorded at the Liberia Broadcasting System.
Africa Prime News Correspondent in Liberia, Raine Tarka Golegio who visited the Liberia Broadcasting System recently, noted with delight the gradual progress at the entity, including the recently launched ELBC Metro 89.9 FM which was part of efforts to expand coverage in information dissemination and entertainment programs.
“There is a gradual progress at LBS, looking at the launched of Metro FM boosting the broadcast of LBS, unlike the way the radio used to be off. It will also help in promoting the Liberian striving entertainment sector”.
The new ELBC 99.9 Radio and LNTV studios, he said, are compatible with other stations in Sub-Saharan Africa and that he was highly impressed by the building where the new ELBC radio studio is situated.
“From what I have seen, the new ELBC studio can be compared with other Sub -Saharan countries’ studios and I’m really impressed ”
Staff of the institution spoken to, expressed satisfaction with salaries being earned at the entity when compared to other regimes.
