A head of World International Peace and Prayer Day June 21, 2022 , over 100 Muslim and Christian scholars are said to have been mobilized from the 19 northern states of Nigeria mobilized to offer special prayers for peace and unity in Nigeria at their various places of worship.
They prayed for sustained peaceful co-existence, better understanding, tolerance and forgiveness among different religions.
The General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Pastor Yohanna Buru disclosed this in a statement to mark this year’s Peace and Prayer Day celebration in kaduna.
According to him, a number of pastors and imams across the country have been mobilized by his organization (Peace Revival and recounciliation Foundation of Nigeria) ,on the need to embark on ceaseless prayers for peace and stability in the country a head 2023 general election .
“As the 2023 general elections approach , all the senatorial, gubernatorial and presidential aspirants need prayers for God’s guidance , success and victory, hence the need for all faith base clerics to organize a prayer for all the candidates irrespective of their political parties.
“we pray that may almighty God gives them wisdom on how to best represent everyone in the country irrespective of tribe, culture,religion, region, etc
“God ,give our leaders wisdom that they may be able to do things beyond their understanding. Help them to choose the right path when they make decisions on behalf of this nation”
He noted that Every year on June 21st during the summer solstice, World Peace and Prayer Day encourages people of all faiths and all nations to pray for the planet. It’s also a day to learn more about Mother Earth and to inspire youth to care for the environment
“Pray that they would seek God first as they seek to serve the country, adding that they pray that candidates would have listening ears and soft hearts to promote Girl-child education, boost agricultural activities, improvement medical health,
The Christian cleric said they pray for candidates to address poverty crimes, unemployment, banditry , kidnapping, Boko haram, IPOP and general insecurity bordering the 19 northern states of Nigeria
“we pray for strength and encouragement of our leadrers and election candidates”
Responding, Mallam Mohammed Sani, one of the Islamic clerics in Kaduna called on muslims and Christians to always pray for their leaders saying that it is good for every citizen to be supporting his leader in prayers for them to deliver by serving the people well.
He called on politicians to stop using thugs during their political campaigns
The muslim cleric appealed to concerned citizens and non governmental organizations to sensitize the general public on the need for peaceful election to sustain democracy in the country.
The annual World Peace and Prayer being observed today, was introduced during Summer Solstice in 1996 by Chief Arvol Looking Horse .
