As part of efforts to commence its operations in Western Liberia, Western Cluster Mining Company has officially broken grounds in Bomi County.
According to State Radio ELBC on Wednesday June 08, 2022, the Minister of Lands Mines and Energy, Gesler E. Murray, Vedanta in collaboration with Sea-sa entered into the Country and signed an MOU with the Liberian government in 2010 to operate on three Mountains in Western Liberia to include; NIOC in Bomi, Bea Mountain in Grand Cape Mount and Green Ever green in Gbarpolu Counties.
Minister Murray further disclosed that after the signing of the MOU and the assessment of the Mining Company, they officially came up with the name Western Cluster.
He encouraged the young people of Bomi County to be law abiding and do away with acts of violence that have the propensity of creating Chaos in the County.
Also speaking at the ground breaking ceremony was Bomi County Senator and Chair of the Bomi Legislative Caucus, Morris Saytumah who welcomed the return of Western Cluster and called on the youthful population of the County to embrace the coming of the Company into the County as it will create more jobs opportunities for them.
He also called on the citizens to get prepared as there are more opportunities for the young people of Bomi County.
Also speaking, Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe said though the road was rocky but the return of Western Cluster to Liberia, especially Bomi County, was a credit to the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Nathaniel F. McGill and his Excellency, President George Manneh Weah for again giving hope to the people of the Western Region of Liberia.
He then asked the citizens of Bomi to join hands as one family to ensure the goal of the Mining Company is achieved for the benefit of each and every citizens.
