Following confessional statements by parents of Deborah Yabuku, a Nigerian female Christian student who was murdered in cold blood and burnt alive, that they would not send their remaining children to school, a Nigerian-humanitarian Pastor, Chibuzor Chinyere, has offered scholarship to her siblings with the promise to provide jobs for her parents.
Deborah’s mother, Alheri Emmanuel, had disclosed that she would not risk sending her other seven children to school because of the barbaric murder of her daughter.
The father, Garba Emmanuel also concurred by saying, “I don’t want anything but one thing I know is that my children will never go to school again.”
In tears, the deceased’s father, who is a security guard with the Niger State Water and Sanitation Board lamented how he spent his life’s savings to send his eldest child (Deborah) to school only for her to return in a coffin.
In a swift reaction, the General Oversea of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere promised to relocate Deborah’s family from Niger State, North-central Nigeria, to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in South-South of Nigeria.
On education, Apostle Chinyere said, “All their children are given automatic scholarships in OPM Free schools” while assuring that as regards employment, “I will get the father a job and I also open a shop for the mother.”
The humanitarian also stated, “They would be staying in one of the OPM free estates where they will never pay rent forever” concerning accommodation.
He has since fulfilled his promise by relocating the family to Port Harcourt, South-South Nigeria where they were given a VIP treatment.
Meanwhile, just few days after the gruesome murder and burning of a female student, Deborah Yakubu, reports have it that the Nigerian Police in Maiduguri have arrested one Naomi Goni for allegedly blasphemy against the Prophet of Islam.
Goni was said to have responded negatively to a Muslim during a social media discussion which sparked reactions and attempts on her life.
Her Facebook post had enraged the youths who were bent on taking laws into their hands, reports say.
The irate youths took to the streets in their hundreds to express displeasure demanding the life of the accused.
Although the police intervened in the matter by arresting her, the youths felt that the police would help her escape from being lynched which triggered rampage wanting her release to face the fate as Deborah Yabuku.
However, Nigerians have taken to social media to commend the police in Maiduguri for arresting the situation by acting fast.
While briefing the press on the situation in Maiduguri, the Commissioner of Police, Abdu Umar, disclosed that 3 suspects were arrested with “something like fuel inside a jerican” during the protest over a blasphemous statement made against the Prophet of Islam by one Naomi Goni on her Facebook account.
Borno State Police Chief warned residents not to hide under the cover of the protest to disrupt peace in the state.
Meanwhile, Police in Bauchi have confirmed the burning of 6 Houses and 7 shops by Irate youths with scores injured in Warji, Warkji Local Government Area of the state over a message posted on a social media by one Mrs, Rhoda Jatau, a nurse from Adamawa married to a native of the area.
The State Commissioner of Police, has ordered a thorough investigation into the crisis while calling on religious leaders, community leaders and elders to caution the youth from taking the law into their hands.
