Each year on 25th May, the continent commemorates Africa Freedom Day.

It is a day not only to celebrate the resounding defeat of colonialism across the African Continent, but Zambians also honour and remember the leaders of the Liberation Struggle and the many men and women who sacrificed their lives in order that the people may have the freedom and civil liberties that the enjoy today, Hichilema declares

“To observe this important day, this morning we laid wreaths at the Freedom Statue after which we held an Investiture Ceremony at State House where we presented Honours and Awards to distinguished citizens of our great country for their heroic achievements, that profoundly inspired our nation and touched many lives.

“Mutinta and I, and indeed all citizens extend our sincere gratitude and congratulations to the recipients of these honours and awards. May God bless them and may He bless our Nation”, Hakainde Hichilema concludes.
