A Gubernatorial Aspirant under the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC Dr Abdulmalik Mohammed Durunguwa says his dream is to have a Kaduna State where everybody goes to bed and wake up, go to farm or businesses peacefully without any fear of molestation.
He said One could have all the social amenities in place but once the people are not at peace, nothing could be achieved.
Kaduna, he explained, is blessed with human material and mineral resources which need a multifunctional person like him to come on board to harmonize and put them in proper perspective to move forward.
Dr Durunguwa was speaking at a Ramadan Break fast he hosted for members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists at their Secretariat over the weekend in Kaduna.
“Anybody coming should have a multifunctional and dynamic brain to be able to push Kaduna beyond where it is currently”, he said.
A technocrat cum politician, the Aspirant sees himself as more experienced politically and One who knows Kaduna more than anybody to help secure the State for everybody to go to bed and wake up without fear of insecurity.
Dr. Durunguwa who expressed concern over the rural-urban drift said it is not just to develop the urban areas alone and that rural areas too need to be given critical attention as well.
Kaduna and Zaria, he emphasized, aren’t just the only Local Governments in the State saying there are others that can turn to cities.
While acknowledging the Urban renewal of the el-rufai led administration, Durunguwa contended that the State needs someone who would continue and replicate same in other towns in the State.
A Permanent Commissioner representing Kaduna State in the National Population Commission, Dr. Durunguwa stressed the need for Nigerians to change the narratives and look beyond religion, ethnicity and focus more on who they are, rather than differences to find solutions to the problems of the country.
He expressed worry over the rapid population growth in the country warning that if adequate measures are not taken, Nigeria stands the risk of population explosion by 2050 without the resources to carter for citizens.
“Unless we change our narratives else 2050 if we are not careful Nigeria will become the most populous country in the world. Because Nigeria’s population is growing more than geometrics compare to resources”.
He said, any leader in this country that is not looking at this time bomb that is moving, he is not a true leader.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abdulmalik Durunguwa is set to formally declare his ambition this week after consultations and meetings.
The Aspirant hails from Ladduga in Kachia Local Government Area of the state, and so far, the only candidate from the Southern Senatorial Zone who has indicated interest to contest for the position of Governor.
Dr. Durunguwa is a grassroot politician and someone who has a larger following both among the masses and elites.
His strength is his large followership and capacity to connect people across the various divides of religion and ethnicity.
