A gubernatorial aspirant in Kaduna State, under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Shehu Sani, says his daughter will attend Kaduna State University (KASU), if elected governor of the state.
“If I become the Governor of Kaduna State, my daughter will be in Kaduna State University,” Sen. Sani announced on twitter, where the post attracted comments from his followers.
Mr. Sani represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the Senate between 2015 – 2019, under the All Progressive Congress (APC).
In October 2018, ahead of the 2019 general elections, he defected to Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) to recontest, but lost the seat to the incumbent.
Late 2021, Sen. Sani moved to PDP and announced his interest to contest for the number one seat in Kaduna State.
Many politicians in Nigeria who occupy offices, including president, governors and senators, are in the practice of sending their children to western countries for education.
Currently KASU, like other public university in nigeria, is closed, due to ongoing strike by members of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
ASUU, in February embarked on strike, saying Nigerian universities have suffered neglect and gross under funding overtime, leading to inadequate classrooms, ill-equipped laboratories, poor remunerations for lecturers, and poor environment for academic research, among others.
