Following the reported kidnapping of 12 persons at Ungwan Baka, Agunu Ward of Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State on 14th Feb, 2022, the community has appealed for military operation to clear the area of kidnappers .

In their Save Our Souls message to governments and security agencies, members of the community narrated how they paid ransom and subsequent release of the abductees without one, who was killed by the kidnappers.

According to the community, the kidnappers demanded an initial Ransom of 30M Naira, which was later bargained to 7M and it was paid

“Sadly, after the payment only 5 people were released, and the kidnappers made fresh demand of 4 Motorcycles popularly called Boko Haram which cost at least 600,000 Naira. After pleading with them and it was reduced to 2 Motorcycles, with 1 Android phone and 200,000 Naira which they said they will use in fueling the Motorcycles for their movements and activities.

“After all their demand was made. It was expected the remaining 7 persons will be released, lo and behold, they released only 6 persons on 4th March, 2022 and killed One person in person of ISUWA MATTHEW.

‘ISUWA MATTHEW was a volunteer Community Policing officer, according to the kidnappers, they killed him because he is a security and a law enforcement agent.

According to a resident, Mr James Moses, “We are very sad and helpless at this point, because even when we raised alarm no Government or any security apparatus was concern to come to our aid.  As we speak, we are still not safe for the fear of the unknown. How long would this continue?
