Towards increasing the capacity of private health institutions to complement Government in healthcare delivery, Borno Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has approved N50m grant, ambulance, drugs, and other medical facilities to Sunni Hospital, Maiduguri.
Zulum announced the donation on Wednesday when he paid an inspection visit to a hospital located in Abbaganaram area of the metropolis.
Sunni is a private community-based hospital built by Maiduguri-based businessman, Alhaji Tijjani Bolori who died by the end of last year (2021).
… Offers six doctors, nurses
Governor Zulum also asked the hospital to recruit two doctors and four nurses to boost their staff strength, while the Borno State Government will shoulder the monthly salaries and other entitlements of the six medical personnel while they remain staff of Sunni hospital.
“Submit requirements for us to shoulder the payment of two medical doctors as well as the nurses. I will imsha’Allah give approval of the payment of their salaries” Zulum said.
The Governor also paid tribute to the late founder of the hospital.
“I am delighted to be here this morning to see things for myself, but let me pay a tribute to late Alhaji Tijjani Bolori for the wonderful things he did in his lifetime. Bolori has touched almost all the sectors of human capital development, in healthcare services, and education among others. We pray that Almighty Allah will admit him into Jannatul Firdaus” Zulum said.
.. Orders remodeling of Maiduguri eye hospital
In a related development, Governor Zulum has ordered the remodeling of the Maiduguri eye hospital.
He ordered the construction of new staff quarters and operation theater to serve the increasing healthcare needs of the State.
