Plan Parenthood Federation of Nigeria has enjoined the media to promote the ongoing awareness Program at Work Place to mark this year’s World AIDS Day. This is just as it introduces HIV Self Testing Kit.
The program which began on the 25th Nov. to 10th Dec. 2021 covers HIV counseling and Self Testing, Cervical Cancer Screening, Breast Cancer Counseling and Screening, Gender Based Violence Counseling and Healthy Timing Pregnant Spacing.
Briefing journalists at the NUJ Secretariat in Kaduna, Wednesday, PPFN Programme Officer, Northwest Region, Amina Abdulkareem said the important role of the media in creating awareness can not be over emphasized.
She said the listed services are available at its offices and other designated health facilities in Kaduna State hence the need for people to make themselves available.
Amina was however quick to point out that there are people at certain conditions, time or age that can not undergo screenings
She said the HIV Self Testing Kit is affordable in order for everyone to know his or her status and also to eliminate the stigma associated with the ailment.
Amina Abdulkareem explained that HIV AIDS is no longer a death sentence explaining that one can live with it for decades having been counselled.
The World AIDS Day, she emphasized, is to commemorate those who died as a result of the ailment and those living.
The enumerated services were carried out at the NUJ Secretariat after the Press briefing.
