Date:

Some candidates cleared by the Credentials Committee to contest in the forthcoming Kaduna NUJ election but subsequently disqualified by the National Secretariat of the Union, say they are satisfied with the verdict.

The stance of the candidates is contained in a ‘Source’ made available to AFRICA PRIME NEWS.

The affected candidates who had sought to contest different positions in the council, said although they were “favoured” by the Credentials Committee to contest, but being law abiding citizens and patriotic members of the Union, they were satisfied by the final resolution of the National Secretariat.

‘We therefore ask the Credential Committee to do same, except, they have vested interest in the election
“We do not expect the Credential Committee to protest on our behalf as they are expected to be neutral in the conduct of the election”.

While advising on neutrality in the conduct of the election, the disqualified candidates also urged the outgoing leadership of the Union to call the Committee to order by guiding it on some of the constitutional provisions with a view to attaining a peaceful election.
