Nigeria: Present Your Children For Polio, Measles, Meningitis Immunization – JAP Tells Parents In Kaduna

Parents and caregivers in Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria have been advised to ensure they make their children available for vaccination as the State is set to commence another round of polio immunization campaign integrated with Measles (5-59 months) and Meningitis (MenA 7-8 & 9-10 years).
The immunization exercise will be conducted in 2 phases with Phase 1to be conducted in half of the political wards in all the 23 LGAs in the state between 18th to 23rd November 2021, while Phase 2 in the remaining wards holds between 26th November and 1st December, 2021. 
The immunization exercise will take place in Health Centres, House-to-House visits, on the streets and markets, motor parks among others.
The Coordinator, Kaduna State Chapter ofJournalists Initiative on Immunization Against Polio (JAP), Lawal Dogara emphasized on the importance of immunization.
He explained that immunization would enable the children grow healthier, as such, parents should try and ensure they allow the vaccinators to attend to their wards. 
“All adequate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the exercise by the State Government, Development partners and other stakeholders,  Dogara assured.

 He further explained that during the exercise a lot of intervention will be provided such as health camps especially in the high-risk areas. 

JAP commended Traditional and Religion Leaders for their efforts and urged them not to relent in their efforts for the success of the exercise.

 It also commended the World Health Organization for partnering with JAP with a view to educating the parents and the general public on the importance of immunization. 

It also appealed to the health care workers and ad-hoc staff engaged for the conduct of Integrated Immunization exercise to ensure all eligible children are reached to prevent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases in the state and the country at large.
