The Nutrition Society of Nigeria says it will hold its 51st Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference in Enugu, South East, Nigeria starting Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th September 2021.
The theme for this year’s meeting is “Promoting Healthy Diets Through Food Systems Transformation.”
A statement by the Society says the annual meeting brings together stakeholders in a series of discussions and identifies viable solutions to Nutrition-related challenges in Nigeria and the world at large.
This year’s Opening Ceremony will be Chaired by Prof. A.I. Onimawo (FNSN), the former Vice-Chancellor, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

The Nutrition Society of Nigeria will hold its 51st Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference in Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria from Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th September 2021, with the theme “Promoting Healthy Diets Through Food Systems Transformation”.
NSN is the only and largest gathering of stakeholders in Nutrition in Nigeria. The annual conference brings together these stakeholders in a series of discussions and identifies viable solutions to Nutrition-related challenges in Nigeria and the world at large.
This year’s discussion will focus on:
Evidence-Based Nutrition-Sensitive Food Systems Policies, Programs, and Actions – Prospects and Challenges
Contemporary Technologies and Tools for Diet Quality, Food Processing and Safety Strengthening along with Food Systems
Food Systems Coordination for Sustainable Delivery of Nutritious Food
Nutrition Education and Awareness for Social and Behaviour Change for Healthier Food Systems
Sustainable Food Systems for Improved Dietary Pattern and Practices – Implications for Health and Disease Management
Innovative Food Systems Approach for Sustainable Healthier Diets
The Chairman of this year’s Conference Opening Ceremony will be Prof. A.I. Onimawo (FNSN), the former Vice-Chancellor, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
The Keynote Address will be delivered by Dr. Adeyinka Onabolu – Senior Advisor (Food Security and Nutrition) to the Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Abuja.
The Conference, which will be a 3-day intensive meeting is loaded with a variety of activities.
Part of the activities of this year’s conference is the presentation of an “Award of Excellence” as “A Nutrition Champion” to Her Excellency, the wife of the Executive Governor of Enugu state, Mrs. Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi, during the opening ceremony.
