Following the collapse of the bridge linking Kapam Community to Nissi Village, residents have made a passionate appeal to the Kaduna State Government through its road agency KADRA, Chikun Local Government Area authorities and the Kaduna Petroleum Refinery Corporation (KRPC) to make efforts in reconstructing it.

The appeal was made on Saturday September 11, 2021, when our correspondent visited the area on a community journalism tour.

They lamented that the link bridge which was constructed by the late village head collapsed three years ago after the bunkers caved in owing to water pressure from the stream that flows through the community.

A resident of the community, Honourable Shehu Ango told our reporter that the collapse of the bridge has caused them untold hardship as they have to turn around through the KRPC access road.

“We are appealing to all tiers of government to come to our aid and fix this critical infrastructure in our community,” he said.

Speaking further, Honourable Ango who is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), praised the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai for the massive urban renewal project in the state, which has placed Kaduna among the too cities in the country.

“We are hopeful that our amiable and result oriented Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai will see this report and come to our aid.

“He has transformed Kaduna beyond our expectations and we are looking forward to being beneficiaries of his historic infrastructural interventions in Kaoam Community,” he said.

Also speaking, a resident, who simply identified herself as Mrs. Yohanna appealed to the KRPC management to earmark the KAPAM bridge as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“Our community is the closest to the Kaduna Refinery. We appreciate them because some years ago, they intervened through CSR and renovated our only primary school. We appeal to them to urgently come to our aid and do this bridge,” she added.

Mrs. Yohanna also called on the Kaduna State and Chikun governments to assist in the bridge project, as well as consider the community for a health centre, which she said, none is in the community at present.

A tour round the community by our correspondent, revealed that the fast growing area, is also in need of motorable roads and drainages.
