Nigeria: Destiny Hands Win U-15 Boys/Girls Volleyball Competition In Kaduna

Destiny Hands team has  dominated the Kaduna  State U-15 Beach, Indoor Volleyball Championship.
The Competition which was organised by the Kaduna State Volleyball Association in collaboration with the State Ministry of Sports have a total of 102 participants from 10 Clubs boys/girls, across the State.
Destiny Hands claimed the male and female  gold in the indoor category, as well as the silver in the male beach category of the competition, which ended on Saturday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
Young Eagles won the silver, while Dalet Barracks clinched the bronze medal in the male indoor category.
Goningora Spikers picked silver, while  Peace Spikers grabbed the bronze in the female outdoor category.
In the beach male category of the competition,  Young Eagles soared high to lift gold. Laoms Academy Zaria, picked the bronze.
Speaking with newsmen at the event, Secretary of the  Association, Florence Yori said the competition was organised to scout for talents ahead of the National Youth Games (NYG), billed for October in Ilorin.
“We are doing this ahead of the zonal elimination  of the NYG billed for Kebbi in September,” she said
According to her 102 players participated in the three-day competition.
“There were 94 players for the indoor volleyball, while for beach we have 18,” she said.
Yori said they   association discovered a lot of players  which they will  develop and groom for future competitions.
“With the players we have discovered, If there is going to be an U-12 competition, Kaduna will do well in such competition
She said the talents will also be used for  the North West Zonal elimination in Kebbi for team sports.
According to her,  selected players would be invited to open camp which will begin Aug.24.
” The camp kicked off immediately so as to get the players acclimated with each other and build that team synergy.
“We intend to run an open camp because we have accomodation problem, so we made it open camp when they come from their homes,  we transport them back.
“Like the hostel here, if it can be renovated by the state or federal government, it would really help a lot,”.
Also speaking, so.e of the players    who participated  in the competition  expressed  delight in the competition.
Goningora Spikers  player, 14-yr old Nwosu Francisca said she dreams of playing for Team Kaduna in the nearest future.
“I will be happy to represent Kaduna at the NYG because I will not be 14 years forever,”
Also speaking, Matthew Moses also from Goningora Spikers  expressed readiness to do Kaduna proud.
“It is an opportunity to represent the state in up coming competitions and  am ready to represent Kaduna,” he said.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
