The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB) on Sunday airlifted the second batch of pilgrims to the kingdom of Jordan.
Speaking to the pilgrims at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Religion, Rev. Bukola Adeleke, admonished the participants to be of good conduct while representing their families, Lagos, Nigeria and the body of Christ well, saying “It is a spiritual journey ordained by God for you to seek His face for yourself, family, Lagos and Nigeria.”
While urging them to keep to the COVID-19 protocols as the virus is still ravaging the world, he thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support towards the pilgrimage and for providing the enabling environment for the body of Christ in Lagos State.
Earlier, the Presiding Chaplain, Chapel of Christ the Light, Ven. Ezekiel Oluwadare prayed for the pilgrims and encouraged them to embrace the prevailing spirit at the sites they would be visiting, especially Mount Nebo where Prophet Moses completed his Ministry and River Jordan, the traditional baptismal site of Jesus Christ.
Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, has enjoined Christian Pilgrims to change the narrative of pilgrimage in Nigeria, being critical stakeholders, by proffering solutions to the problems confronting their various States and Nigeria.
The Executive Secretary gave the advice during the ceremonial JPs’ Night, where Certificates and Badges as Jordan Pilgrims (JP) were presented to Pilgrims, who successfully performed the pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Jordan, just as he commended the Lagos, Osun and Ondo State pilgrims for being good representatives of their various States.
The President of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), Most Rev. Dr. Benebo Fubara-Manuel, had earlier in his sermon admonished Christians to make Christianity interesting for others to emulate by being role models.
The Board Secretary, Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB), Mrs. Florence Yetunde Gbafe, in her goodwill message congratulated and appreciated the pilgrims for a successful and hitch-free pilgrimage. She thanked participants for their cooperation and understanding while urging them to take home the various messages learnt during the journey and continue to be good ambassadors of Christ in their everyday life.
